The HISTORY of REDDITCH New Town
that date to the present day. The benefits of the varied styles of management can be
seen in Pitcheroak wood, Foxlydiate wood and Wirehill woods.
The Woodland Management Programme is carried out in line with best silvicultural
practice under the guidance and advice of a woodland management consultant. Most
work has to be agreed and licensed by the Forestry Commission whom the RDC work
closely with. In any one year the Council aims to carry out work to 15-20 hectares of
the towns overall woodland and plantation tree stock to ensure the quality and longevity
of the woodlands for future generations
Today, as well a fine countryside around us, Redditch has many areas of open space,
woodlands and walks within the town itself.
A legacy of far-sighted planning by the RDC and continuing commitment to the towns
environment by the RBC.
