Redditch People
Robert Smith Bartleet
Needle Manufacturer
Robert Smith Bartleet was born c1822 in Redditch, to
parents William Bartleet and Elizabeth (nee Smith).
He married Harriet Stock in 1851 in Kings Norton and
they had 8 children. He was from the well known
William Bartleet & Sons, which was founded in 1750.
He gave to the town of Redditch in 1883 the fountain
which is still in Church Green.

Robert Smith Bartleet was born on the 27th December 1822 and was the eldest son of
William Bartleet an important manufacturer of needles and fish hooks. He married Harriet
