1974. Local Historian.
In 1939 Redditch Urban District Council opened the
Public Library in a few rooms on the ground floor of
the former Literary and Scientific Institute in Church
Road. Roy was the town librarian until 1971.
He formed a successful partnership with A. P. Wells,
the long serving chairman of the Library committee,
for continuous development of the library services.
By 1971 the church Road building had been
extended, two mobile libraries were in operation, the
