Batchley.

Very ‘youthful’ curate of St Stephen’s Church and St
David’s, Batchley. He lived in Archer Road, next to St
Stephen’s Institute (now the mosque in Easemore
Road). He, together with Revd. Brian Glover
pioneered the Anglican Young People’s Association.
They had a float one year in the Carnival, Hippy
Flower Power!

Chris Shend

Pop Musician

Chris was also known as “The Shend” or “Chris Chris Shend today
Shendo” but was actually born Chris Harz.

He played with various local bands including “The
Cravats” who were founded in 1977 by Robin
Dalloway (Vocals & Lead Guitar and Chris Harz. The
Cravats had modest national hits but when they split
up Chris formed a new Post Punk band called “The
Very Things”.

Chris later went into acting.
