               Victor John Brookes, born in Redditch, resided and enlisted in Birmingham, aged 20, 17150,
               Duke of Edinburgh’s (Wiltshire) Regiment, formerly 13339, Duke of Cornwall’s light infantry,

               killed in action, 10  August 1915, Gallipoli.  Buried Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
               Remembered on St Stephen’s war memorial.
               (On 1911 census Victor John Brookes, aged Cycle Worker, Turner of fittings, lived with his parents Joseph
                                             th
               George, who was killed in action, 25  January 1917, and Mary Alice Brookes at 35 Manor Farm Road, Tyseley,
                                                                         th
               Birmingham.  His father Joseph George Brookes was killed in action, 25  January 1917.)

               Accident to Redditch Territorial at Maldon – Drummer G. C. Wagstaff, of the
                   th
               2/8  Battalion Worcestershire Regiment, son of Inspector and Mrs Wagstaff, Redditch, has
               been admitted to hospital at Maldon suffering from a compound fracture of the leg and
               injuries to the hand.  He was cycling down a hill near Maldon, and when turning round a
               bend collided with a motor cycle and sidecar.  The brake of the bicycle failed to act.  The
               cyclist was thrown and badly injured.  He is now progressing favourably.
               (On the 1911 census George Cyril Wagstaff lived with his parents, Inspector of Police William and Amelia
               Wagstaff at the Police Station, Church Road, Redditch.
