Lighting at Redditch – More Stringent Orders Urged at Council Meeting – At last
night’s meeting of the Redditch Urban District Council a discussion took place upon the need
and advisability of more stringent lighting regulations in the urban districts. It was stated
that Redditch was one of the most brilliantly lighted towns in the Midlands counties, and
having regard to the danger of aircraft greater precautions were necessary than were now
being taken.
The Clerk was instructed to communicate with the proper authorities asking for a stringent
lighting order, and in the meantime it was agreed that steps be taken to greatly reduce the
street lighting and to impress upon the inhabitants the importance of darkening their
windows
