Information has been received from Charing Cross Hospital of the death
of Corpl. Percy Harber (26). He was a member of Redditch Battery of Artillery. He was
married and had one son, his home being on Bate’s Hill, Redditch.

wounds, 28 June 1916, France. Bombardier Percy George Harber, 2 (South Midland)
Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, buried Merville Communal Cemetery, France. Awarded the
British War Medal and Victory Medal.)
Remembered on St Stephen’s war memorial, Redditch.
(On Ancestry site marriage reocord Percy G. Harber married Elsie Duggins in 1912 in the Bromsgrove District.
On 1911 census Percy Harber aged 20 was a Journeyman Baker classed as a servant to Richard Pretty, Baker at
home, employer and his wife and family in Headless Cross.)
Unofficial news have been received by Mr W. Cooke, The Common, Studley,
near Redditch of the death of his son Pte. Harold Cooke (21). R.W.R. from drowning whilst
on service in France. Cooke lost his life whilst bathing in the sea. Prior to the war he was
employed at the B.S.A. Works, Redditch.
