               Webheath Man Killed – Had Been Recommended for Promotion – Information has
               been received that Sergt. A. Harris, Royal Field Artillery, has been killed in action.  Sergt.
               Harris, before the war, resided with his parents Mr and Mrs A. Harris of Heathfield Road,
               Webheath.  He was killed on the 13th ultimo.  In a letter to his sister the captain of the
               brigade speaks highly of the late sergeant, who he says had been with the battery since its
               formation, and was recommended for promotion.  He was killed instantaneously by shell
               fire.  He was 27 years of age.  A son of Mr and Mrs Harris is in hospital suffering from
               wounds, another is at the front, and the remaining son at home goes out to the front this
               week.

               Redditch, was killed in action on 12  October 1916, Western European Theatre and was
               (52959) of the Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery.  Awarded the British War Medal
               and Victory Medal.)
               Remembered on St Luke’s war memorial, Headless Cross, Redditch and St Philip’s Church war memorial,
               Webheath.
