Crabbs Cross Soldier Killed – Nurse Ralph, of Crabbs Cross has received official
information that her husband, Private S. Ralph, of the R.M.L.I. is presumed to have been
st
killed on or about March 21 . The deceased soldier had seen a great deal of fighting, and
early in this year was in some of the severe engagements. He was wounded early in 1917,
and after being treated at several hospitals, he went back to France. One of his brothers fell
in action during last year while another brother is still serving with the colours.

Buried The Arras Memorial at Faubourg-d’Amiens Cemetery Arras, aged 27, son of Frederick
and Bertha Ralph, husband of Kate Ralph, Stone Cottage, Crabbs Cross.
Remembered on St Luke’s war memorial, Headless Cross, Redditch.
(On 1911 census Frank, aged 20, cycle worker (machine shop), lived with his parents Frederick and Bertha
Ralph and siblings, , (including his brother Richard, aged 15, who was killed in action in 1917)at Bredon
Cottage, Hunt End, Redditch.
Astwood Bank Soldier Dies of Wounds – The relatives of Private Albert E. Hall,

2/8 Worcesters, have been notified of his death in hospital in France, on November 2 . He
was 19 years of age, and greatly esteemed in the neighbourhood.
