M.C. for Headless Cross Officer – Temp. Lieut. (Actg. Capt.) N. C. Harrison, Royal
Warwickshire Regiment has been awarded the Military Cross under the following
circumstances: - For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during lengthy operations in
command of his trench mortar battery. He was indefatigable in co-operation with the
infantry exposing himself freely for long periods to heavy hostile fire of all kinds. On several
occasions, owing to casualties among his teams, he handled his mortars himself, and his
coolness and courage were of the greatest assistance to the infantry in a critical situation.

Captain Harrison is the youngest son of Mr Charles Harrison, Headless Cross, and is 26 years
of age. He joined a Birmingham City Battalion in October 1914. At that time he was
associated with his father in business having just passed his final examination as a chartered
               accountant.
(On the 1911 census Neville Clive Harrison, aged 19, articled clerk to Chartered Accountant, lived with his
parents Charles and Hannah Mary Gibson Harrison, at 59 Prospect Hill, Redditch.)
