The HISTORY of REDDITCH New Town




























































       Morton Stanley Park has a total area of 38 hectares and offers a rich mosaic of habitat
       and interest, there are formal areas designed for play and recreation, risky play including
       twin zip wires and a skate park. There are many historic landscape features within the
       park  including  mature  hedgerows  and  veteran  trees;  there  is  evidence  of  remnant
       orchards and large open  areas of  wildflower meadow  managed under  a  higher  level
       stewardship agreement.

       The park has large expanses of open mown areas and formal marked football pitches
       and several ecologically rich ponds both in the park and within a woodland setting. Morton
       Stanley  Park  also  benefits  from  rich  vistas,  to  the  south  aspect  Walkwood  Coppice
       occupies the ridge line and provides a woodland walk setting, to the west and far into
       the distance there is a clear view of the distant Malvern’s.
       In August the park plays host to the Morton Stanley Park Festival one of the largest free
       music and arts events in the region, thousands of visitors visit the park for this calendar
       event that has grown both in size and popularity since 2004, in 2011 over thirty artists
       performed on two huge stages to thousands of visitors, in 2012 the festival is embracing
       both live music, art and performance
