The HISTORY of REDDITCH New Town
The Apollo/VUE Cinema
As part of the 2004 refurbishment of the Kingfisher Centre, a multi-screen cinema, the
Apollo was opened above the bus
station.
In 2013, the Apollo group was
taken over by VUE cinemas and in
late 2013 the multiplex was re-
branded as a VUE cinema.
Since taking over the Kingfisher
Centre in 2011, the new owners
have been keen to re-address the
lack of a range of eating venues
in the centre. This has always
been seen as a limiting factor on
the cinema compared with others
in the area such as at Rubery.
The collapse and closure of the T.
J. Hughes store has enabled plans
for a food court to be advanced.
A new Gym has already taken one
floor and a range of restaurants
under the branding the “Hub”
have been announced for opening in 2014.

tradition on cinemas in Redditch.

As 2014 draws to a close 3 new
restaurants are now open in the Hub.
