Chief Landscape Architect for Redditch New
Town
Redditch is generally known as 'The Green Town' and
the man chiefly responsible for the town's green-
ness is Roy Winter, RIBA, MLI. Hon RBSA.
In 1964 he got the job of Chief Landscape Architect -
for Redditch New Town and was tasked with the job
of landscaping the whole of the new town. Working Roy Winter
with engineers, architects, estate officers, social
development officers and all the other disciplines
employed in the new town he likened the task at one
stage as to providing a new suit of clothes for a new
town.
