Redditch Committee’s Protest Against child Labour – At a meeting of the
Redditch District Education Committee, on Friday in last week, a communication was read
from the Worcestershire Education Authority, giving particulars of the resolution passed by
that body at a recent meeting sanctioning the occasional absence from rural school children
of eleven years of age for employment of farm work during the period of the war.

Strong objection was taken to the action of the county authority, and it was decided on a
proposition of Mr F. C. Dolphin, seconded by Mr H. Guise, that a letter be sent protesting
against the decision of the County Education Committee and expressing the hope that the
matter would be re-considered.
