1916
Declaration Day – At Redditch yesterday (Friday) a public meeting was held on Church
Green for the purpose of passing a resolution upon the war. Mr E. T. Moule (chairman of the
Council) addressed the gathering, and submitted the following resolution, which was carried
with acclamation: - “That, on this second anniversary of the declaration of a righteous war,
this meeting of the citizens of Redditch records its inflexible determination to continue to a
victorious end the struggle in maintenance of those ideals of liberty and justice which are the
common and sacred cause of the Allies.” The Redditch Town Band played selection of music
during the dinner hour in the kiosk.
