               News has been received in Redditch of the death from wounds of

               Private Gratton of one of the Birmingham City Battalions.  Deceased was a native of
               Dublin, and before the war was in the employ of the Midland Railway Company, Redditch.

               (On Ancestry site Military records, Wilfrid Lawson Gratton, 1420, 15  Battalion, Royal
               Warwickshire regiment, born Tideswell, Derby, resided in Redditch, enlisted in Birmingham,

               died of wounds, 23  July 1916, Western European Theatre.  Buried Heilly Station Cemetery,
               Picardie, France.  Son of George and Hannah M. Gratton.)
               Remembered on St Stephen’s war memorial, Redditch.
               (On Ancestry site UK Railway Employment records 1833-1956, Gratton, W. L. was a Goods Clerk in 1914.)

               Mr and Mrs Deaner of Mount Pleasant, Redditch, have been officially

               informed that their son Private Fred Deaner, was killed in action in France on July 9.  He
               was a member of the choir of St Luke’s Church, Headless Cross.

               Remembered on St Luke’s war memorial, Headless Cross, Redditch.
               (On 1901 census Fred Deaner, aged 12, lived with his parents James and Emily Deaner at 53 Evesham Road,
               Headless Cross, Redditch.

               Official information has been received of the death from wounds of

               Sergt. Gorin, Evesham Street, Redditch.  Deceased went through the South African
               campaign and was at the siege of Ladysmith.

                                             Company Sergeant Major Walter Gorin
               Remembered on St Stephen’s war memorial, Redditch.
               (On the 1911 census Walter Gorin, aged 32, Caretaker in Needle Manufactory, was married to Jane and they
               had a baby.  They lived at 65 Grove Street, Redditch.)
