               Webheath Soldier Killed – The relatives of Private Edgar Gibbs, who reside at

               Webheath Lane, Webheath, have received information that he was killed in action on the 4
               inst.  Private Gibbs was in the Lewis Gun Section, Devon Regiment, and was 29 years of age

               (On Ancestry site, Military records Alfred Edgar Gibbs (27663), 1  Battalion, Devonshire
                                                                                  th
               Regiment, born in Alvechurch, enlisted in Redditch, killed in action, 4  September 1917,
               Western European Theatre.  Awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal.)
               Remembered on St Philip’s war memorial, Webheath, Redditch.
               (He was born in 1888 in Bromsgrove, District..  On 1911 census Alfred Gibbs aged 23, Polisher in Cycle
               Manufactory, lived with his parents William and Sarah and brother Harold Gibbs at 12 Phillips Terrace, Beoley
               Road, Redditch.)

               Crabbs Cross Soldier Killed – Private Thomas Yoxall, of the Worcestershire
                                                                                     th
               Regiment, son of Mrs Yoxall, Crabbs Cross, was killed in action on the 17  ult.  He was 19
               years of age.  This is the second son Mrs Yoxall has lost in the war this year.

               action, 17  August 1917, Belgium.  Remembered on Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke,
               Belgium.  Parents Thomas Henry and Ellen Yoxall, Waterloo Villas, Crabbs Cross.)








                                                Private Thomas William Yoxall
               Remembered on St Luke’s war memorial, Headless Cross, Redditch.
               (Born in 1897 in Crabbs Cross. On the 1911 census Thomas William, aged 14, Cycle Worker, lived with his
               parents Thomas Henry and Ellen Yoxall and siblings (including his brother Robert aged 18, in Crabbs Cross.

               Thomas’s brother Robert was killed in action 9  April 1917. )
