               Headless Cross Men Killed – Official news has been received by the relatives of
               Private F. A. Lee (Headless Cross), of the King’s Regt., stating that he was killed in action on
                             th
               September 27 .  He was in the Transport Section of the Regiment, and when standing with
               his horses a shell dropped close by, killing Private Lee and one of the horses instantaneously.
               Pte. Lee had been in the army a year last June, and joined when 18 years of age.  He went
               overseas in March.  Prior to enlisting he was in the employ of Messrs H. Terry and Sons,
               Redditch.

               Regiment), born in Alcester, resided in Redditch, enlisted in Worcester, killed in action 29
               September 1918, Western European Theatre.  Formerly (48657) Bedfordshire Regiment.
               Remembered on Vis-en-Artois British Cemetery, final resting place unknown.)
               A Fred Lee is remembered on St Luke’s war memorial, Headless Cross.
               (On the 1911 census Frederick A. Lee aged 11, born in Alcester, scholar lived with his parents Hiram and Amelia
               Lee and siblings at 29 Evesham Road, Headless Cross.)
               The parents of Gunner W. Wright, of Evesham Road, Headless Cross, have

               received official information of his death from wounds in hospital on October 20 .  Gunner
               Wright joined the forces early in the war and was greatly interested in the work.  For some
               time he was in training as a signaller in the Garrison Artillery, but later he was trained a s
               gunner.  He was 22 years of age, and previous to the war was in the employ of Messrs.
               Harris and Walford, printers, Redditch.
