Webheath Soldier Killed - News has been received by Mr and Mrs W. H. Hunt, of
Birchfield Road, Webheath, that their only son, Private Edward Farly Hunt (35714),
th
Gloucester Regient, was killed in action on the 26 ult. He was formerly in the Duke of
Cornwall’s Light Infantry, and had served in France since November 1917. Private Hunt was
well-known in the district. He was organist for some years at St Phillip’s Church, Webheath,
and frequently gave his services at the piano and as a vocalist, no one appealing in vain if he
could possibly render any service. – A memorial service was held at St Luke’s Church on
Sunday. There was a large congregation, and the service was conducted by the Rev. R. M.
Davis who paid a tribute to the character and worth of the deceased soldier.

(On the 1911 census Edward Farley Hunt, aged 18, Fishing Reel Maker, lived with his parents William Henry and
Annie Hunt, at 119 Birchfield Road, Redditch.
