               The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 4  May 1918

               Astwood Bank Man Killed – Mrs D. Dibble, Church Road, Astwood Bank, has been
               officially informed that her youngest son, Private Sidney George Dibble, was killed in action
                          th
               on April 19 .  He was 21 years of age, and prior to joining the army was in the employ of the
               B.S.A. Company at their Redditch works.

               (On the 1911 census Sidney George Dibble, aged 16, Cycle Repairer, lived with his parents Daniel and Elizabeth
               Dibble, at “The White Lion Hotel”, Astwood Bank.

               Astwood Bank Soldier Killed – Lance-Corporal Charles E. Watkins, whose relatives
                                                                                     th
               reside at Foregate Street, Astwood Bank, was killed in action on April 15 .  He was in the
               Somerset Light Infantry, and was 19 years of age.  He joined the army in February, 1917, and
               went on active service in August of the same year.  Prior to enlisting in the army he was
               employed on the clerical staff of the Austin Motor Works, Longbridge.
