Webheath - For some weeks a committee had been making arrangements for the
celebration in the village, Mr W. Lambley was chairman, and Mr T. Savory secretary. The
proceedings began with a procession of the children and villagers early in the afternoon.
After the parade of a service was held in front of St Phillip’s Church, conducted by the Rev. H.
               R. Herring. An adjournment was made to the Brownlees Farm, where the sports, tea, etc.,
were arranged to be held. Tea was partaken of fortunately before it began to rain, but soon
after it was found that no further part of the arrangements could be carried out. The sports
will be held at a later date, when it is hoped the “Peace mugs” – each child is to receive one –
               will be to hand.
