The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 19 July

A capital programme of rejoicings has been arranged by the Redditch Peace
Celebration committee, with Mr f. J. Whitely (Chairman of the Urban District Council) as
chairman, and Mr G. W. Hobson as hon. secretary. Peals of bells will be rung on the bells of
St Stephen’s Church. At 10.30 there will be a civic procession followed by a thanksgiving
service and town’s meeting on church green, and a concert by the Redditch Peace
Celebration Choir of 400 voices. Performances will be given during the day by the Redditch
Town, Salvation Army, and Mr W. A. Dean’s Orchestral Bands. In the afternoon the school
children will form a procession, and afterwards will be entertained to tea at the various
schools. Band performances, and a concert by the Peace Celebration Choir, will take place,
and at night there will be music and dancing on Church Green, and a bonfire and fireworks.
