               Anniversary of the Signing of the Armistice - At eleven a.m. on Tuesday – The
               time and date of the anniversary of the signing of the armistice – the siren was sounded at
               the Electricity Works, and for two minutes, in the works, shops, and streets, normal activities
               were suspended.  Gaul’s “Holy City” with orchestra, chorus, and soloists, was rendered as an
               act of remembrance in St Stephen’s Church.  There was a large congregation.  On
               Wednesday night there was a town’s and public meeting at the Bates’ Hill Wesleyan Chapel,
               attended officially by the Chairman (Mr
               F.. J. Whiteley) and members of the Redditch Urban District Council.  Addresses were given
               by the Rev. Paterson Morgan (Rector of Arrow) and Captain Neville Roberts (League of
               Nations Union) upon the subject of the League of Nations.
