Church Green East - Looking North
Traffic congestion in the town centre in the 1970s
was getting chronic. One way systems were
introduced in an effort to ease the situation but the
solution was to provide alternative routes for traffic
crossing the town.
Today the town’s new road system does this and
pedestrianisation has transformed Church Green,
Market Place and Alcester Street into the green,
traffic free area we see today.
