The HISTORY of REDDITCH New Town

         Palace Theatre, Visitors and Parties

At the re-opening of the Palace Theatre in 1971 representatives from all of the clubs,
societies and other organisations were invited to attend the opening ceremony and
         performance of Donald Swann.
When Her Majesty the Queen visited Redditch in 1983 all members of the Corporation
had some duty to perform at one or other of the locations to be visited.

The Corporation organised garden parties at Sir Edward Thompson’s home - Gateacre
Park, Herbert Terry’s home – Southcrest and Holmwood, the RDC Head Quarters.

The social club organised children’s parties, cheese and wine evenings,
skittles and cricket matches, leaving parties and Christmas parties for
         members and guests.
