The HISTORY of REDDITCH New Town

St Luke’s Church, Headless Cross, Redditch
A chapel had been erected there in 1843 which when the district was converted into a

However the population increased and the little building was inadequate for its purpose.
With much help from various sources including the working people of Headless Cross
paying weekly pence amounting to £150 a new church was built. Present Church built
in 1867 and consecrated by the Lord Bishop of Worcester in March 1868. In 2009 St
Luke’s and Headless Cross Methodist Church joined together as an Ecumenical Church
called The Bridge, based at the St Luke’s site.
