Foundation stone was laid by Mr J. Smith, J.P. of Astwood Bank in November 1866. The
opening was in 1867 and the sermon in the morning was preached by Rev. H. E. Von
Sturmer of Worcester and in the afternoon by Rev. C. Vince of Birmingham. In 1897 the
church became too small for the congregation, so the members moved to a new site in
Ipsley Street at the corner of Millsborough Road. It was where Millsborough House is now.
During the First World War the congregation became smaller and sold the church and land
to the factory next door which wanted to expand. They then moved to Easemore Road.
