Dealer and distributor systems
Besides the work done by Systems for
a varied range of (unctions and
companies in BL. we also develop
systems lor use by our dealers and
distributors, both to enable thorn lo
be more effective and to interlace
their business Systems with ours A
range of integrated computer based
systems have been developed to aid
them in the management of their
sales, service, parts and accounting I
unctions, to improve their operating
efficiency, customer service and
individual profitability
This range of systems is being
progressively extended to enable us to
adapt our facilities and expertise to the requirements of outlets of all sizes.
Small dealers can make use of our computers inside BL through a simple
system which provides details of the storage locations .ind retail prices, with
their discounts, for all the parts which they stock. Currently this system is
provided to over 270 parts depots in the UK and has details of over two million
bin locations! Stock evaluation for dealers can be built on to this foundation,
giving the distributor the stockholding of each part and evaluating
discrepancies between book' and 'actual" stock figures. A stock control system
has been developed by Systems in Parts Division by which terminals situated in
distributors or dealers premises are linked to the Data Centre and this system
is currently under test using a pilot distributor.
A small minicomputer system has been developed jointly with ICL, the major
British computer manufacturer, providing many finance systems facilities to
include management reporting in later development with the capability to link
into the stock control system mentioned above A more sophisticated
minicomputer system has been developed and implemented over the last
couple of ye,us providing a very full and sophisticated stock control system
amd covering the main finance, sales and service procedures which major
distributor outlets need to cover.
