Consultant who prepared Redditch’s Master The New Town Master Plan

Sir Hugh Wilson was the consultant who prepared
Reddltch's master plan complete with Kingfisher
Centre, Arrow Valley Lake and surrounding centres
like Church Hill and Wlnyates.
Council leader Walter Stranz said: "He planned a
dispersed town In which greenery and open spaces
were among the dominant features. "Above all he
had strongly held views and was willing to listen to
local opinions. His master plan was a text book
example," he said. One of Sir Hugh's hardest
decisions was when he rejected pressure for the New
Town Centre to be built in the Oakenshaw or
Greenlands area.
