William Windsor

The Windsors, and Windsor-Clives were English
nobleman who owned and lived at the Hewell Grange
estate in Tardebigge, Worcestershire.
They owned vast area of what we now know as
Redditch, but were also generous beneficiaries giving
both land and monies as the town grew and expanded.

2nd son but heir due to George (b. 1492) dying in 1520.
m. (1) Margaret Sambourne of Fernham in Shrivenham in 1527
(2) Elizabeth Cowdray widow of Richard Paulet in 1554
Elected MP for Chipping Wycombe in 1529.
He was present at the signing of the treaty with Carlos V and in 1544 he was present in
the rearguard of the army against France having contributed £1000 (abt. £250,000
today) as a loan for the war. He carried the standard of the lion at the funeral of Henry
VIII and was chief mourner at that of Edward VI.
