Redditch People

1854 - The Lady Harriet gave funds for the tower and spire of St Stephen’s Church.
1855 -
1859 - The Lady Harriet Clive gave £100 towards the collection of £163.16s.3d., on
1866 - the day of the consecration of St Stephen’s Church.
1875 -
The Baroness Windsor munificiently offered a piece of land for a recreation
1880 - ground in Easemore Lane, Redditch.

1881 - Baroness Windsor gave £200 towards the St Luke’s Church enlargement,
1883 - Headless Cross.
1885 -
Lady Mary Windsor Clive, (widow of Hon. Robert Henry Windsor-Clive M.P.,
1889 - who died in 1859), laid the Corner stone of the new church of St George’s
1892 - which she had given the land for and had contributed £250 toward the
building. She also promised £50 a year towards the maintenance of a curate
1893 -
Lord Windsor (Robert George Windsor Clive) gave 2 acres of land around the
church which was turned into public ornamental gardens which he later
opened. He donated £150 and offered by deed of gift to give up his manorial
rights to the green as long as the footpaths were kept up for the public benefit.

Lord Windsor gave permission for a bathing place on his land in Brockhill Lane.

Lord gave 3 acres of land required to enlarge the cemetery at Redditch.

Lord Windsor contributed £150 to the restoration of Beoley Church. He also
contributed £350 towards the building of the new School of Art and Institute.
His brother Lieutenant Colonel, Hon. G. (George Herbert) Windsor Clive laid
the foundation stone of this building.

Lord Windsor presented 2 acres of ground adjoining the cemetery at Redditch.

Lord Windsor generously offered the necessary land for a hospital but The
Smallwood brothers (William and Edwin) paid for the hospital in bequests and
donations.

Lord Windsor, patron of the living of St Stephen’s Church donated £200 to the
renovation of the church.
