Ian Hayes

Local Historian

Ian Hayes was born in Redditch in 1931. He attended
Redditch County High School and gained a degree in
Geography at Birmingham University. He spent forty-
two years in the transport industry before retiring to
study industrial archaeology and local history. He is
the grandson of Harry Guise, former editor of the
Redditch Indicator.

Cllr. Patti Hill

Redditch Mayor in 2015

Pattie Hill is a Labour councillor for Batchley and
Brockhill. She left Shropshire at the age of 16 and
worked as a Police Cadet and Policewoman with
Birmingham City Police. She had a 30 year career in
Education Welfare and became a specialist officer in
Child Labour and Children in Entertainment. Then a
five year spell at B & Q in Redditch as communinty
link, resulting in the store recruiting the highest
number of senior citizens to their “Diamond Club”.
