Needle Scourer

Les Jakeman was recognised as one of the last
traditional Needle Scourers and the last man to
produce needles at Forge Mill. In 1983 he came out
of retirement to demonstate his skills and the
process of needle scouring, to Her Majesty, Queen
Elizabeth II when she opened the National Needle
Museum at Forge Mill.
