casualties in the 8 Battalion were reported on Thursday, including the first fatal case. This
is that of 2179 Pt. A. Danks, of “D” Company, of 72 Albert Road, Redditch, who was killed in

action on the 2 inst. He leaves a widow.

Danks, born in Redditch aged 56, Manager at Fish Hook Factory and his second wife Mary Elizabeth Danks
aged 38 from Yorkshire. They lived at 111 Bromsgrove Road, Redditch.)
