               The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 8  May 1915


               8th Worcestershire Losses – one killed, three wounded – Redditch Man killed – Four

               casualties in the 8  Battalion were reported on Thursday, including the first fatal case.  This
               is that of 2179 Pt. A. Danks, of “D” Company, of 72 Albert Road, Redditch, who was killed in

               action on the 2  inst.  He leaves a widow.

               (On 1911 census Alfred aged 29, born in Redditch, single, Fish Hook Maker, lived with his father James Harry
               Danks, born in Redditch aged 56, Manager at Fish Hook Factory and his second wife Mary Elizabeth Danks
               aged 38 from Yorkshire.  They lived at 111 Bromsgrove Road, Redditch.)
