Redditch Territorial’s Death – Lance-corporal A. Chatterley, a Redditch Territorial,

now attached to the 8 Worcesters, writing to a friend, states that so far only one death had
taken place in their section, i.e. Private Alfred Danks,Albert Street, Redditch, who was shot
through the right temple by a sniper. He had a military funeral, and the company were
erecting a stone over the grave. A letter has been received by Mrs Danks from Captain
Clarke, praising Private Dank’s work and saying he died instantaneously.
