The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 1
September 1917
Discharged Sailors and Soldiers – It had been arranged to hold a mass meeting on
Church Green, on Sunday afternoon in connection with the National Federation of
Discharged and Demobilised Sailors and Soldiers. The heavy rain, however, made it
impossible, and the gathering was held in the Drill Hall. Mr Wilkinson presided over a large
attendance, and the aims and objects of the association were set forth by Mr Leybourne, of
Coventry, and Mr Taylor of Birmingham. At night a sacred concert was held in the Public
Hall. In aid of the funds of the Redditch Branch.
