Food Control at Redditch – The Redditch Urban Council has appointed as the food
Control committee, Messrs. A. C. Millward (chairman), E. T. Moule, H. Wright, J. Guise, W.
Bladon, S. T. Cox, and J. Blackford, from the Council. The co-opted members are Mrs
Blackford, Miss Such, Mr Norris, and Mr Bond (tradespeople), and Mr Ray James (Labour
representative). The Clerk of the Council ( Mr G. W. Hobson) was appointed the executive
officer, who stated that several day school teachers and a few gentlemen, including a
minister, had promised to give satisfaction.
Redditch House Shortage – At a meeting of the Redditch Urban Council last night, Mr
Cox 9labour representative) inquired if any steps had been taken to prepare the report
respecting the particulars of houses required in the town. Mr Bladon said that there had.
About 150 houses were required now, but after the war he estimated that 250 houses would
be required. He hoped these would be built largely by private enterprise. Mr Co: I hope not.
