Church Green West - Smallwood Hospital
Looking West from the Bandstand you will see
Smallwood Hospital. Opened in 1895 thanks to the
efforts of brothers Edwin and William Smallwood
who raised the money to build it.
It served the town until the new general Hospital,
The Alexandra, was built in Woodrow in the 1980s.
Today it still functions as a local medical centre.

Next Cross the road, Church Green West, to the corner of Church Road. Look
