Women’s Institute – The Countess of Plymouth presided at a meeting
in support of Women Institutes at Redditch Palace Theatre on Sunday
afternoon. - December 1917
She said the Institutes were quite young, but a number had been formed in England and
Wales. There were great possibilities in the Institutes, and she was glad to learn there was a
chance of one being formed in Redditch. – Mr Nugent Harris (of London) and Lady
Margesson addressed the meeting, the latter devoting her remarks to the working of the
Institutes. It was decided to form a committee with the object of starting an Institute in
Redditch. Cordial votes of thanks were given to the Countess and speakers.
