Remembering ISTEL

Covering three major functions - work-in- progress, inventory and job booking,
TRACKER will pin-point production bottlenecks, help reduce part-finished
       stock and monitor production achievement.

       METEOR (Engineering & Manufacturing Division.)

METEOR is an advanced and comprehensive Computer Aided Engineering

(CAE) timesharing service, designed to improve engineering productivity.
Offering well- established, engineering-related pro- ducts, such as
       MSC/NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS, McAUTO/STRUDL, via ISTEL's Infotrac
       network, METEOR has primarily

focused on the automotive and offshore industries. It has been expanded to
address general engineering markets, with programs for the design and

optimisation of individual components or complete structures with respect to
their static, dynamic, non-linear and thermal characteristics.

Microcomputer Group (Decision Support Systems Division.)

ISTEL's Microcomputer Group (MCG) is software-skill oriented and provides
easy- to-operate, robust, reliable systems for a wide range of hardware

       including IBM, DEC and ACT.

MCG specialises in the design and development of micro-computer software for

administration and commercial management, and implements stand-alone
systems, systems which communicate with host computers and systems which
inter- face to solid state electronic devices and robots.

MVS Services (Planning & Commercial Division.)

There are four main services under the MVS banner: IMS, CICS, TSO and Batch

       Processing.

IMS - Information Management System - is a database and data

communications system which is capable of managing complex databases and
       terminal networks.

Consisting of various application data- bases which can be accessed, created
and maintained, IMS is used for on-line transactions i.e. a user can log-on to the
system to perform a specific operation. Applications running under IMS tend to

be specifically designed and developed by ISTEL for a customer or customers.
