Remembering ISTEL

A bank of Xerox 9700 laser printers enable more than 30 million personalised
letters and documents to be printed each year.

EDICT (Business Development Division.)

Launched in 1985, EDICT is ISTEL's electronic data interchange service. It is
able to accept data in a variety of forms and hold it ready for access in the right

form by authorised users.

Much time, effort and money is currently wasted as companies communicate

with each other by printing out computer-held information, then sending it by
post to trading partners where it is entered into another computer system.
EDICT enables the computers to communicate directly despite differences in
formats and standards, speeding up the flow of data and reducing costs.

Each company links into ISTEL's communications network either through a
dial-up link or a leased-line connection.

FAILSAFE (Business Development Division.)

Failsafe is Europe's leading supplier of 'hot' restart disaster recovery services

for IBM and IBM-compatible computer users.

Hot restart centres provide the environment and hardware to enable

resumption of processing with the minimum of delay following computer
failure, a vital service as organisations computerise an increasng number of
their activities.

Launched as a joint venture between ISTEL (expertise and operation of the
centres) and Atlantic Computers (hard-

ware), Failsafe has attracted many 'blue chip' companies, notably in the finance
and insurance sectors.

Grosvenor Studios (Business Development Division)

Grosvenor Studios provides full photo- graphic services including studio and

location photography, colour and monochrome processing, colour printing and
lamination, Chromacopying, AV slides and bulk printing for press releases.
Grosvenor Studios provides superb facilities, high creativity and excellent
under- standing of business needs from original concepts to presentations and

processing.
