John G. Rollins

Planner & Historian

Born in 1914 into a Needle making family he went to            1914 - 1982
work at the Ordnance Survey. At the outbreak of war
he joined the Royal Engineers to continue his                       Geoff Rollins
surveying interests but soon got seconded to Military  (Source: A History of Redditch)
Intelligence for five years.

Geoff, as he became known, was a local historian
who is remembered for leading the project to turn
the derelict Forge Mill into the National Needle
Museum. Sadly Geoff died a year before money from
Redditch District Council enabled the museum to
open in 1983
