               Killed While Sniping – Mr J. Bennett of Grove Street, Redditch, has received official
                                                           nd
               news that his son Private H. Bennett, of the 2  Worcestershire Regiment, has died from
               wounds received in action on November 6.

               Regiment, died of wounds, 6  November 1914, Western European Theatre.  Mentioned at
               Ypres (Menin Gate)Memorial, Belgium.  Son of James and Fanny Bennett.)
               Remembered on St Stephen’s war memorial, Redditch.
               (On the 1911 census James and Fanny Bennett lived at 30 Grove Street, Redditch and their son’s name was
               really Hubert but must have been known as Harry.  He was aged 17 and a shop assistant.)

               Intimation has been received by his relatives at Webheath that Private B. Lippett, of the 2
               Battalion Coldstream Guards, was killed in action at La Bassee on January 31.  In a letter
               conveying news of his death, an officer describes Lippett as “one of the best soldiers who
               ever wore a British uniform.” Lippett, who was 19 years of age, was killed while engaged at
               sniping.

               Another soldier who has been killed in action is Lance-corporal J. J. Spiers, formerly of
               Studley.  He was 29 years of age.

               (On 1911 census Joseph James Spiers aged 36, Assistant Grocer, lived with his wife Lillian Mary and their
               children, at 40 Coombe Road, Preston, Brighton.
