Mrs Huins to take up military nursing duties in France – Mrs Huins, wife of
Mr Sydney L. Huins, head of the firm of J. Huins and Son, boot factors, Redditch, Northfield,
and Evesham, leaves England for France on Wednesday next to take up military nursing
duties. At one time Mrs Huins was matron of the Smallwood Hospital, Redditch.
(On the 1911 census Ada Annie Huins, aged 36, lived with her husband Sidney Lloyd Huins, Boot Merchant and
Retailer at 12 Park Road, Redditch.)

Evening Despatch – Saturday 20 March 1915
News has been received – by Mr Frank Allcock, of Birchfield-road, Redditch, that his
son, Corporal Frank Allcock, of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry has been wounded.
Allcock enlisted in September, and had only been at the front about a week. Prior to joining
the Army Allcock won many prizes in cycle races, and was also a well-known motor-cyclist.
