Remembering Redditch’s Fallen Heroes book
Owen Barratt was born about 1881 in Staunton, Gloucestershire to John and Annie Barratt.
By 1891 the famiy were living in Henry Street, in Kings Norton where his father worked as a
butcher. By 1901 the family had moved to Evesham Road in Headless Cross area of Redditch
and Owen was working as a dog biscuit maker.

He enlisted with the Armed Forces at Redditch on December 8 , 1915 and at that time lists
his job as a press worker. He is 34 years old and attached to the Worcestershire Regiment,

13 Battalion and mobilised on March 24 1916. Later transferred to the Royal West Kent
Regiment. He was discharged from the army at the end pf that year for being medically
unfit to continue active service after being diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis. Date of
death unknown.

He seems to have died in 1917 in Alcester District. On UK and Ireland find a grave it stated

that Owen Barratt died 26 July 1917 and was buried in Redditch Plymouth Road Cemetery.
